  • Re: Unlicensed control - yet I have a licence

I've looked further into the issue. It seems that things have changed in Windows 7 x64 with regards to registry reflection. This will affect licensing on Windows 7 x64 systems where the application is not using a .lic file in the bin folder. So, until the License Manager is fixed, you have these options: deploy a .lic file in the bin folder of your application set Enable 32-Bit application = true for the IIS7 application pool under which your app is running export the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE...

I have not been able to reproduce this with the following configuration: Windows 7 Professional x64 Visual Studio 2008 SP1 Web.UI 2009.3 SP1 I have added several AJAX controls to the web form. They are licensed correctly in debug mode. To pursue this matter, I suggest you open a support request . Our Support Team can look into things in more depth with regards to your specific scenario.
  • Licensing issue when running in IIS7 on Vista ultimate 64

Posted to General Discussion by pierrehuguet on Jun 20, 2009
I have no problem running my application in Visual studio with the visual Studio Development Server, but when I switch visual studio to using the local IIS Web Server, then I get an unlicensed error on my controls. - I run Vista ultimate 64 bit) - The handlers for CartLicense.axd are correctly set in the web.config as well as the ComponentArt.UIFramework.lic in the bin directory. Any Idea why? and how to fix it? Is that something that is fixed with the beta of 2009.2 ?

The fix will be in the final of 2009.2, but I do have pre-release build you can use. Can you open up a support request and quote this forum post so we can forward it along? Just use the main navigation above (and we will of course refund the ticket). Thanks!

Good to hear that you have found the problem. Can you give me an E.T.A.? Or is it possible to receive a hotfix when this issue is fixed? We are ready to release our product, but unable to do so because of the error on our 64bit production machines. Regards, Freerk Jelsma SchoolMaster BV

We just learned that there is indeed an issue with 64 bit licensing, one that we're working on right now. I'm very sorry for the trouble, and the fix will be available shortly in an upcoming 2009.2 release.

Yes, it's added in the system.webServer handlers section aswell. I also see that it calls the CartLicense.axd and comes up with a result. I also tried generating the license file again on one of the IIS7 machines by running the license manager again, but still no result.

Have you added the handler in web.config to the handlers section of system.webserver as discussed in the documentation ? IIS 7 uses this, while IIS 6 uses the handler set in system.web.httphandlers.

I've got an issue with the ComponentArt Tree displaying "Unlicensed control. Click here for more information". On one machine, with a single IIS6 on Windows Server 2003 its working correctly. (license file exists in bin directory) But when I copy this website to our production environment its displaying the Unlicensed error. Our production environment is running in a clustered IIS7 webfarm environment, running on 4 64bit Windows Server 2008 Enterprise machines. Currently using ComponentArt...
