I am currently evaluating the ASP.NET AJAX control suite, but cannot find any documentation that lists the browsers and its versions that is fully supported.

I am looking for some kind of matrix that outlines the support, something like what Telerik has would be great.

We actually don't have a browser matrix on the site at present, but will be bringing it back very soon (it was removed in a redesign). Generally speaking, though, the controls are supported in FireFox 1+, IE 6+, Opera 8+ and Safari 3+. The notable exceptions to this are Editor and Upload- Editor is not supported in Opera or Safari, and Upload is not supported in Safari. If you need any more specific details please let me know, and sorry for the trouble.

Hi Stephen,

It would be great to get an official response with the support browser and versions over the operating systems, a matrix of sort.

Also a matrix for supported version of .NET over the various flavours of windows operating systems.

Thanks, V

The controls should be OS independent in terms of client usage; we support firefox 3 on any OS, for example. And all versions of the .net framework are supported. If you look in the install \assembly \asp.net folder you'll find a version of Web.UI for every version of the .net framework, for example.

Hi Steven,

So the official support for the control suite is FireFox 1+, IE 6+, Opera 8+ and Safari 3+

Correct (with the editor and upload exceptions above).

Hi Stephen,

Is the UI also comaptible with browsers on mobile phones, smart phones and blackberry?

The suite has never been tested with mobile browsers, I'm afraid, and they're not supported.

I've had some success on the iPhone (it is just Safari after all), however Blackberry's are a lost cause. They can barely render a standard HTML document, nevermind anything scripted!
